The best explanation I've ever heard for DC is that every hero is in his own bubble--Batman has Gotham, Superman has Metropolis, and so on--so when Batman shows up in, say, Coast City, it's a huuuuuuuuuuge deal. Whereas with Marvel, if you're reading Fantastic Four and Bruce Banner's in the lab, it's just like, "Oh, Bruce is here. And he's not the Hulk! Huh." Tony Stark used to hook up with Emma Frost, no big deal. Making a JLA movie is just piggybacking on The Avengers, and I really don't think it's going to work.
